- Finalize application essay topics
- Continue writing college coaches and provide fall schedule
- Arrange for college visits and interviews
- Check with counsel for SAT/ACT retake registration and schedule
- Discuss Achievement Tests results with counselor
- Parent and student meeting with counselor
- If you haven't already, obtain the Guide for the College Bound Student Athletic from the NCAA.
October, November & December
- Show application essays to teachers/parents for proof and comments before finalizing
- Request recommendation from teachers/faculty
- Check with counselor for SAT/ACT registration and test schedule
- If applying for early decision, complete and send application
- Get tax records to prepare for financial aid forms
- Narrow list to 5 schools for possible application
- Apply to at least 3 schools
- Inform counselor of college applications (for transcripts to be sent)
- National Letter of Intent Signing is November
- Achievement Test given in early November nationally
- Review material in college file with parents
January, February & March
- File Financial Aid forms ASAP after January 1
- Final visits to schools where applied
- Make sure all applications have been sent
- Parent and student meeting with counselor
- Re-take SAT/ACT if necessary
- Decision time -- Good Luck!
- National Letter of Intent Signing Day
April, May & June
- Review progress with parents
- AP Examinations given in May
- Review acceptances and aid offers -- choose college you wish to attend
- If you are put on waiting lists, contact college admissions officer and speak with guidance counselor
- Handle necessary deposits to college you have chosen
- Inform all colleges to which you applied of the decision to attend or not attend that school
- Achievement Tests in May nationally
- Notify counselor of your choice and have them send final grades, proof of graduation, etc.
