2007-2008 Varsity Preview
Last year,
only five minutes separated the team from a league champinship and at least a quarterfinal appearance in the CIF Playoffs.
This team is expected to be even better. It now has more experience and a solid returning core.
So far this
season, the Indians have proven to be a very good team. Goalkeepers Andre Yanez and Alex Escobar have been very good. Escobar
opened the season with three consecutive shutous. Yanez played well in wins against Westlake and Notre Dame.
All-league
defender Gilen Guenther has continued to provide offense and solid defense on the left side. Junior Doorie Lee has been
a pleasant surprise and provides attacking options on the right side. Seniors Danny Abrahamian and Julio Corona have been
steady central defenders.
As expected all
league midfielder Armando Gutierrez and senior Andrew An provide the base for a strong midfield core. Luis Felix,
Derek Olson and Cameron Collier have been scoring goals.
The Indians
open up league against defending Pacific Champion Hoover and much improved Pasadena. Then the Indians will travel to Trabuco
Hills (Dec 27, 28 & 29) during the winter break before resuming league against Crescenta Valley on Friday January 4th.
